Details & Registration

Our inaugural workshop will be held in our home in Belvès, France the last full week in September, 2026. Classes will be Mon Sept 21 through Sat Sept 26. Plan to arrive by Sun Sept 20 and leave Sun Sept 27, although for those who want to explore the sites further and can spare the time we welcome you to come earlier or stay later. We will arrange transport to and from the train station for those needing it.

The class will be taught by Anthea Lawrence backed by her husband Lawson. Details are on the Workshop page.

Cost

The cost of the workshop is 1,500 USD per person, which includes:

  • Breakfast Mon-Sun, including fresh croissants/baguettes/cheeses/fruit as well as a cooked dish
  • Morning classes from 9:30 to 11:30 am Mon-Sat
  • Shared accommodation in our vacation rental in the Belvès village
  • Three group tours to local attractions, chosen depending on the interests of the attendees.
  • Three home-cooked dinners and possibly one dinner at a farm-to-table restaurant in the local countryside
  • Evening sessions led by Anthea and Lawson

You will be on your own for daily lunches and three dinners to allow you to partake of the excellent local restaurants or to cook your own meals in our fully-equipped kitchen. There is a small but well-stocked local grocery store walking distance from the accommodation, and supermarkets and farmer’s markets within 20 minutes drive.

Registration

Please use the form here to reach out to us to indicate your interest. We’ll respond via email and if you would like we can set up a call or Zoom to answer any questions you may have. In order to secure a spot, we request a 20% deposit with the balance paid in full two weeks prior to the workshop start (Sept 6). As of now we are not set up to accept credit cards, but we can work with online payment providers Zelle and Venmo.

Accommodation

Included in the price is shared accommodation in our fully restored vacation rental cottage in Belvès. Please see our AirBnB listing for details and photos. The cottage has three bedrooms: a master suite with a queen bed (160cm) and ensuite bathroom on the 2nd floor, and on the third floor a bedroom with a queen bed and another with two twin beds. There is a shared bathroom on the 3rd floor. The ground floor has a well-appointed kitchen, dining area, and laundry room, along with a powder room.

The sleeping spaces are suitable for two couples and another couple or two persons who do not mind sharing the room with twin beds. If the shared accommodation does not meet your needs, there are other accommodations available in the village.

Transportation

Local transport:

Public transport (buses) is not really available in Belvès, but the village is small enough to be fully walkable. For group outings, train station pickups, and to take folks to local markets and shops, we are planning to rent a van for the week of the workshop to alleviate the need for attendees to rent cars.

Getting to Belvès:

Bordeaux and Toulouse airports are both about a 2 hr train ride from Siorac en Perigord, the nearest staffed railway station to Belvès, about 10 minutes away by car. We prefer Bordeaux, especially if you want to stay over and enjoy the city, the entire center of which is a world UNESCO heritage site. Another option is to fly to Paris and take the TGV train down to Bordeaux then connect to the frequent TER train from Bordeaux to Siorac. If you can fly internationally direct to Paris, this option eliminates the uncertainty of flight delays causing missed connections. Also, you get the option to spend a day or two in Paris, and who doesn’t love that?!

For train tickets, we always use trainline.com. It’s super easy to navigate.
