Both the Dordogne and Vézère rivers offer unbeatable scenic kayaking and canoeing, and there are many rental companies that you can choose from to explore different parts of these rivers. One of the most spectacular runs is on the Dordogne from Vitrac to Beynac, a leisurely 3 hr paddle that takes you past the stunning cliffside village of La Roque Gageac, through wooded riparian habitats where you will see swans, egrets, and herons, past the ancient fortification of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, and ending just past the rival castle of Beynac.
